Digital Art & Design

Greetings,

I am Shane King, and I am your Digital Art Pathway teacher. Within this pathway there are four levels, or four classes, that are required to be a Digital Art pathway completer. The four classes are Design 1, 2, 3 and 4 and with each class you will be more challenged then the previous while learning new techniques, terminology, and design programs. Starting in the 2022-2023 school year there is a new certification platform being utilized that will give the students a state recognized Adobe certification in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

I was born and raised in Marion, Ohio and now live in Ridgeland, South Carolina. I attended basic training at United States Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA. I spent a total of 22 years in the Army, 20 of which was active duty. I was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky (twice), Fort Wainwright, Ak, Fort Lewis (Joint base Lewis-McCord), Wa and Fort Stewart, GA. While stationed at Fort Lewis, I was part of the Army's first Stryker Brigade and deployed to Iraq twice (a total of 27 months) as part of Operation Iraqi freedom.

I retired from the Army in 2015 and immediately started college, at The Art Institute of Charleston (AIC), for graphic design. I spent my first year at AIC and then I transferred to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in the fall of 2016. I graduated and earned my BFA in graphic design, March 2020 from SCAD. I graduated and earned my MA in Visual Communication Design, May 2021 from Liberty University.

I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life not only as a graphic designer but to be able to teach the next generation of designers. I am excited about teaching students to learn Digital Art & Design and continuing my work as a freelance designer.

Dream, Draw, Design!
